Hardware of the Cape Town Webcam

mobotixThe professional and exchangeable-lens camera is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Internal, digital video recorder with up to 32 GB of storage capacity and HiRes recording up to 5.0 megapixels. The solid IP-camera (even used in the mining industry) is build into a IP66 waterproof case. The CMOS-sensor is without auto iris and with digital contrast enhancement and configurable exposure measurement zones guarantees optimum exposure control. Direct exposure of the sun onto the CMOS-chip doesn't do any harm to the electronics!
The build-in Linux-Computer with the easy to handle operating system makes the system independent from any PC or other hardware. For the connection to the Internet, the Mobotix-camera is only connected to a router which carries a CellC (HSDPA+) surfstick. The camera can be accessed via Internet from anywhere in the world to adjust settings. This webcam sends JPG.images via FTP every 6 minutes to the server.
