In Cape Town and the surrounding area, there are a particularly large number of webcams in a wide variety of locations. Some are operated by hotels or businesses, but the vast majority of webcams are maintained and operated by private individuals. Many provide a JPG still image that repeats after a few minutes, which is uploaded directly to a server by the camera connected to the network. Mostly more interesting, however, are the increasing live streams, which are uploaded to a YouTube channel. Unfortunately, even a short interruption changes the address of the live Youtube webcam so that it is difficult to embed it on a website (like this one). In general, webcams fail more or less regularly for hours but also sometimes days until the operator resets or repairs the system. We are happy about reports of new webcams or gratefully accept suggestions for improvement.
