Live image (refreshing every 10 minutes) of Table Mountain in Cape Town (South Africa) with the peak of Lion's Head and Signal Hill visible to the right and Devil's Peak on the left. Directly below Table Mountain is the City Bowl, fronted by Cape Town harbour and V&A Waterfront. In the middle is the Table Bay. Nearest to the viewer is Milnerton Lagoon and the houses of Woodbridge Island. Please click onto the above image for more information on this camera.
In Cape Town and the surrounding area, there are a particularly large number of webcams in a wide variety of locations. Some are operated by hotels or businesses, but the vast majority of webcams are maintained and operated by private individuals. Many provide a JPG still image that repeats after a few minutes, which is uploaded directly to a server by the camera connected to the network. Mostly more interesting, however, are the increasing live streams, which are uploaded to a YouTube channel. Unfortunately, even a short interruption changes the address of the live Youtube webcam so that it is difficult to embed it on a website (like this one). In general, webcams fail more or less regularly for hours but also sometimes days until the operator resets or repairs the system. We mark the inactive webcams, but only delete them finally if they don't work for a longer period of time and we don't get in contact with the operators anymore. We are happy about reports of new webcams or gratefully accept suggestions for improvement.
